DOULA TRAINING
Doulas offer care for pregnant mothers during prenatal, delivery, and postnatal stages. Studies show that having a doula present leads to a healthier pregnancy, faster and easier labor for women, and less need for C-sections and pain medication. Additionally, the continuous presence of a doula during delivery has also been shown to reduce anxiety and fear during labor. Women who utilize the services of a doula also report higher satisfaction with their birth experience and greater success with breastfeeding.
Sadly, however, mothers who are in greatest need, including those in underserved areas, often lack vital birthing support, including access to doulas. And with only 200 to 300 doulas in Michigan there is a great need for trained and certified doulas to help fill this gap. As a certified doula you will be entering a growing field with a high demand for your services – while providing much needed care for pregnant mothers and their babies.
Unlike obtaining a medical degree, doula training and certification is an accessible, rapid, and affordable process. Most individuals complete the self-paced training and required reading, and pass the doula certification exam, all within a few months! Women’s Health Associates can provide you with the resources to obtain your doula training and certification, enabling you to embark on a stable and rewarding career that enables you to help vulnerable and marginalized women deliver happy, healthy babies.
